This page contains widgets to demonstrate how the Norwegian Hydrographic Service's tide system Application Programming Interface (API) works. Most commands will return a xml formatted response, and the url of that command will be shown in the url address field at the top of your web browser.
Download the specificaton of this API: API for water level data. Communication protocol (pdf).
The API is open for everybody, free of charge. However, be careful not to abuse the API by excessive polling of data. Proper programming practice will be to cache static data locally and limit request to a neccessary minimum. The API should be able to handle about 20 requests per second, but remember that you share this resource with all other users.
Remember to read the Terms of use. The use of the data is licensed through Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 international (CC BY 4.0).
